What are Authorised Agents?

An authorised agent is an accountant, tax adviser, or bookkeeper officially permitted to act with HMRC on behalf of a UK business or individual. Authorisation is granted either by submitting the paper 64-8 form or by completing a digital handshake through HMRC's agent services account. Once authorised, the agent can file returns, view liabilities, make payments, and receive HMRC correspondence for the services they are registered to handle.
