How do I register for Online HMRC Services?

Registering for HMRC online services means setting up a Government Gateway account or using the newer GOV.UK One Login, then adding the specific services a taxpayer or business needs. Services include self-assessment, VAT including Making Tax Digital, PAYE for employers, and corporation tax. Registration requires identity verification and two-factor authentication. Agents can be authorised either by submitting form 64-8 or through a digital handshake from inside the online account.
