What is the current self assessment tax year?
The 2023/ 2024 self assessment tax year runs from 6th April 2023 to 5th April 2024. The 2023/2024 self assessment tax return is due on 31st January 2025.
Does this include complex Self Assessment Tax Returns?
This service is for a basic self assessment tax return and we would charge extra for each additional page of your self assessment tax return. As an example, users with multiple sources of income (e.g. rental properties, dividends, crypto) that can complicate a Self Assessment Tax Return can be subject to increased fees.
Do you increase the price of self assessment returns?
Yes - depending on when you submit and confirm the final version of your Self Assessment Tax Return, our fees will change. If you submit all the documents by 30th November 2024 then no additional fees are charged for a basic return.
- Self Assessment Tax Returns submitted from 1st November 2024 will incur a £15 + VAT late filing charge.
- Self Assessment Tax Returns submitted from 1st December 2024 will incur a £30 + VAT late filing charge
- Self Assessment Tax Returns submitted from 1st January 2024 will incur a £45 + VAT late filing charge.
We will also be unable to guarantee that anything submitted after 1st December 2024 will be filed ahead of the 31st January 2025 filing date depending on date submitted and complexity of the return.
What are the HMRC penalties/ deadlines?
You’ll get a penalty if you need to send a tax return and you miss the deadline for submitting it or paying your bill which is 31st January 2025.
You’ll pay a late filing penalty of £100 if your tax return is up to 3 months late. You’ll have to pay more if it’s later, or if you pay your tax bill late.
You’ll be charged interest on late payments.
